Edgar Allan Poe
I chose Edgar Allan Poe as the topic for my research paper, because I have read some of his stories before and they are interesting to me. I think it will be easy to research, because I already know a lot about him and most of his stories are dark and scary. I like Poe and I look forward to this project.

I like Poe, too. I think that your first step in this research project is to find out about the man; you already know his stories. What you need now is something about why he writes the way he does. He has written things to explain what he tries to accomplish in at least some of his works. The most famous is "Philosophy of Composition" which is about the methods used for "The Raven." I suggest that you start there.
